FIFTH'S DISEASE

The Local encourages all teachers who are pregnant and/or planning to get pregnant to be tested to determine their immunity to Fifth's Disease.

The Rainbow District School Board has a policy on Fifth's Disease with respect to teachers who are pregnant.

This policy is posted on the Board's website. Members are encouraged to speak to their steward or contact the local office for more information.



LONG TERM DISABILITY INFORMATION

Participation in the Long Term Disability (LTD) program is a mandatory condition of employment for Rainbow teachers, except for those who opted out prior to January 1, 1998 with the predecessor boards. The Rainbow Local office contacts all members who have LTD coverage who have been off work for 20 consecutive days to offer assistance and to explain the LTD process. LTD cannot be accessed until the expiration of sick leave credits OR 120 working days (which ever comes later). For more information on LTD coverage, visit the OTIP website.

Termination of Long Term Disability Insurance

You may qualify to cancel your long term disability (LTD) insurance if you meet one of the following criteria:

1) You will retire within the next 12 months
2) You will qualify for a 66% unreduced service pension*, or
3) You will attain your 65th birthday

*The maximum period allowed to cancel your LTD coverage is 120 working days or accumulation of sick leave credits to a maximum of 220 working days.

Based on the criteria listed above, if you qualify to cancel your coverage please see your Steward to obtain the necessary form.

They also have an area for FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions). Our plan number is 8819, and your certificate number can be found on your Manulife wallet card.




CAREpath is a Canadian owned and operated health care company that specializes in cancer related service programs for OTIP members and their immediate families. The goal of CAREpath is to support, not replace, health services provided by your doctors. It provides you with; emotional support; assessment of cancer treatment plan and options; and more. To access CAREpath you must be covered under the OTIP LTD policy. Participation in the LTD plan is a condition of employment for Rainbow teachers, except those who opted out prior to January 1, 1998 with the predecessor boards.

FeelingBetterNow is a new mental and emotional health care program offered by OTIP. It provides you with a system to assess your emotional and mental health and more. Getting the right tools to take control of your mental health is as simple as visiting the FeelingBetterNow website. To access this program you will require our policy number (contact the Local office) and the Access ID - which can be found on the brochure (bottom of second page).
